OVERVIEW
The Marketing & Communications Department for the Town of New Glasgow was created in 2001 with the establishment of the position of Director of Marketing & Communications. The portfolio of the department manages and directs the implementation of marketing, communications, events management, public relation, protocol, and tourism and heritage initiatives of the town.
Several of the Strategic Directions of The Town of New Glasgow’s Strategic Plan for 2005-2008 have a strong marketing and communications focus. They are as follows:
Improve and Develop Working Relationships with all Internal & External Stakeholders
Enhance New Glasgow’s Position as a Tourist Destination
Increase the Recognition of New Glasgow’s Unique Identity and Enhance the Town’s Communications with all Internal & External Stakeholders.

MARKETING
• Marketing Campaigns- strategies, marketing campaigns, advertisements, etc.
• Official Branding Development- new program to be initiated in 2007
• Tourism Marketing & Development-
• Marketing Support for Major Events- i.e. Johnny Miles Running Event Weekend, Festival of the Tartans, Race on the River, Hockey Moms and Movie Night in Canada, Tsunami Fund-raiser, etc
• Event Planning- major town events, civic receptions, retirement receptions, support for other events, etc.
• Heritage Marketing & Development-promotion of heritage preservation and programs
• Web Site- Tourism focus

Kim Dickson joined the Town of New Glasgow management team in 2001 as the Town's first Director of Marketing & Communications. Kim has had a successful career in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations and Tourism with 20 years of experience to her credit.
