Bonnie Coulter joined the Town of New Glasgow management team as Director of Corporate Services in 2009.  Ms. Coulter’s department is responsible for general government administration for the departments of the Town of New Glasgow.  Ms. Coulter and her staff responsibilities include preparation and monitoring of annual operating budgets, capital budgets, review and recommendation of finance options, operating and capital expenditures, preparation of municipal reports filed with the Province of Nova Scotia and finance reporting to Town Council.  The Department of Corporate Services also includes accounts payable, account receivable, information technology and payroll.

Ms. Coulter was a graduate of the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy in 1986 and a graduate of Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree; double major in accounting and marketing.  Bonnie was president, controller, sales manager and dealer principal for Kenworth Nova Scotia, a commercial truck dealership in New Glasgow for the past eight years. As dealer principal and business owner of the Kenworth dealership, she was responsible for the overall operations of the company and continued on as controller throughout the ownership transition period, which was completed in July 2009.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Coulter held the position of controller for A.W. Leil Cranes & Equipment Ltd. from 1993-1999.  Her responsibilities included administering all banking and financing functions for the business, preparation of month end financial statements for several companies, preparation and analyzing of annual budgets and preparation of year end files for external auditors and governmental auditors. She was also a staff accountant with Steele & Cleveland Chartered Accountants for five years, performing audits and year end reviews as well as financial forecasts for various clients.

Bonnie brings a wide scope of community volunteer contributions to the Department of Corporate Services, having served as treasurer for Highland Residential Services, Pictou County Help Line, Tearmann House and the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce. She has volunteered on the School Advisory Council for Dr. WA MacLeod Elementary School and the Northumberland Regional High School Advisory Council.
