The New Glasgow Police Service K-9 Unit provides service to the other municipal police agencies in the province as well as the RCMP and the Department of Natural Resources, if required.
Our K-9 Unit currently is home to Sgt. Duane Rutledge, and a police service dog named Ekko.
Police service dogs are trained in tracking of criminal suspects, criminal apprehension, drug searching, and other types of searching. They are a valuable asset in the fight against crime.
The K-9 program is funded through the generosity of community donations and partnerships.
