The New Glasgow Police Service, has since January 2000, developed and maintained an Emergency Response Team (ERT), a highly trained and well equipped special weapons team that responds to high risk critical incidents, and whose mandate is “To provide support to Uniform Members with the primary objective to de-escalate the threat potential to victims, citizens, Police, and the suspect(s)”.
The ERT consists of 14 operators, led operationally by the team Sergeant, who reports directly to the D/Chief of Operations
