New Glasgow is strategically located for both business and pleasure with excellent transportation routes and infrastructure. We are located only 90 minutes from the Halifax International Airport and just under two hours from Nova Scotia’s capital city of Halifax. Access to both the airport and the metro area is along a divided highway system. Cape Breton and Central Nova Railway runs through the town. We are also less than 30 minutes from Northumberland Ferries terminal in Caribou, which operates two passenger/commercial ferries along a 75 minute route to Wood Islands PEI, May to December.  New Glasgow is approximately a three hour drive to Sydney, Cape Breton or two and a half hours to Moncton, New Brunswick. Traffic volumes on Highway 104 past the town of New Glasgow average more than four million vehicles per year.

Presently public transit services are unavailable in the municipality; however, specialized transportation services are available for persons with disabilities. Central Highlands Association for the Disabled (CHAD) operates this service throughout the Pictou County region.
